Mrs S Mirza, Career Counsellor
Founder of Dream Big Education
I’m so glad you’re here.
As your dedicated career counsellor, I work closely with students and their parents to explore interests, strengths, and values, and guide them toward the most suitable courses and career pathways. Whether you’re navigating school choices or uncertain about your next steps, I’m here to help you make confident, informed decisions about your future — regardless of exam results.
I’ll support you in understanding the academic systems you’re part of, introduce you to a wide range of opportunities, and walk you through every available pathway to reach your dream career.
Why One-on-One Career Guidance Matters
Many students and parents feel overwhelmed when it comes to choosing the right course or career path — and it’s common to rely entirely on school-based guidance.
Having worked in schools for over a decade, I’ve seen first-hand how committed and hardworking school staff and career practitioners are. They care deeply and do their best with the time and resources available. But the truth is, the average time schools can dedicate to individual career guidance is limited — often just a few hours per student per year, and that includes general sessions like assemblies or info nights.
That’s where I come in.
Just like students often benefit from private tutoring to reinforce what’s taught in class, personalised career counselling can be a game-changer. I provide the space and support to explore what truly fits you — your goals, your strengths, your values.
Here’s how I can help:
Ask the right questions to help you uncover the course or career path that genuinely excites you
Show you multiple pathways to reach your dream career — no matter your academic results
Clarify course and training options to match your interests, goals, and unique circumstances
Provide unbiased advice — because I’m independent, I focus solely on what’s best for you, not what fits a system
My goal is simple: to help you feel empowered, informed, and excited about what comes next.
What's My Story
When I say I understand what it’s like to finish secondary school and feel unsure about your future — I truly mean it.
I remember that uncomfortable feeling whenever someone asked, “So, what do you want to do after school?” Not only did I not have an answer, but I also didn’t know how to find one. It was easier to focus on passing my next exam than to think about what came after.
Because I was good at Maths, everyone assumed I should become an accountant. But deep down, I wasn’t passionate about it. I ended up choosing a program that I hoped would “keep my options open,” even though I wasn’t truly interested in it.
Eventually, I realised I couldn’t keep pretending. I wasn’t enjoying my course, and I couldn’t see myself working in that field. But something I did enjoy — and was already doing — was tutoring and supporting other students.
That’s when I made the decision to shift my focus. I completed my training in education and became a teacher. Later, I pursued further qualifications in career guidance so I could help students like you find the path that suits them best — not based on pressure or expectations, but on who they are and where they want to go.
And now, through Dream Big, I help students and families across Malawi explore education and career options with confidence.
📘 Understanding the MSCE & Beyond
For students in Malawi, the MSCE (Malawi School Certificate of Education) is a big milestone — and also a turning point.
There’s pressure to perform well, and often, students feel like their entire future depends on these results. But the truth is, your MSCE results are only one part of the bigger picture.
As a career counsellor, I help you:
Explore your interests, values, and strengths
Understand the different options available after MSCE — including university, colleges, vocational training, entrepreneurship, or bridging programs
Discover multiple pathways to reach your dream career — even if your results aren’t what you expected
